Ride the Rail Tour

Overview

All Aboard! Ride the rail of the White Pass & Yukon Route train in this fun addition to our Emerald Lake tour. Expand upon your Klondike Gold Rush History as you follow the path of the stampeders over White Pass. The train ride adds 1 hour and 45 minutes of fun to your day and is enjoyable for all ages!

We have a few options for you when it comes to adding a ride on the historic WP&YR train to your day. The option that is right for your group depends on the amount of additional activities you are interested in.

Time

 7:30AM Departure Times for the 7:55am Skagway to Fraser train, followed by the 6 hour Emerald Lake Tour, returning to Skagway at 3:30PM.

9:15 meeting time and a  9:30am Departure for the 6 hour Emerald Lake tour, followed by the 3:25 Fraser to Skagway train, arriving back in Skagway at about 5:30PM.

Train Tickets- 2025 pricing available late 2024

Train tickets are based on availability and the price of tickets are not included at the time of booking. Let us know at the time of booking if you have a preference for the morning or afternoon train, how many people are in your party, plus the number of adults vs. children. White Pass and Yukon Route also requires passport details for ticket confirmation, so we will ask for each guests name, birthdate, passport number, and country of origin. When tickets are confirmed, we’ll add the below ticket price to your reservation. 

 Either way, your guide will take you on a full Emerald Lake tour, either before or after you ride the White Pass Rail!

If you want to have your train tickets confirmed before booking, please call us e-mail info@beyondskagwaytours.com . Otherwise the above per person train ticket prices will be added to your tour total at the time of ticket confirmation with White Pass. 

Price: All of our tours are private, and tour prices are based on the group size. Railway tickets are priced per person. Ticket prices are added to your reservation when ticket availability is confirmed through White Pass and Yukon Route Railway.  Below are our private van tour prices based on your group size.

Sample Morning Train Itinerary

7:20 AM: Meet your guide, who will be wearing a blue coat and holding a “Beyond Skagway” sign, at the end of your ship’s pier, just past port security.

Head North, through historic downtown Skagway. Listen, while your guide weaves the story of the Klondike Gold Rush of ’98. View notable historical buildings and hot spots to visit after your tour. Cruise over White Pass, passing and/or stopping at these various viewpoints.

9:45 AM: Morning train arrives in Fraser to begin Emerald Lake Tour Continuing north, scan for wildlife and pass by or stop at these scenic points for photos! Tutshi Lake (look out for mountain goats!) Tagish Lake Yukon Sign Bove Island Carcross Desert Emerald Lake – Our Turnaround

12:00 PM: Approximate timing for lunch in Carcross for morning train riders 12:30 PM: Head south on the same highway, enjoying a completely different view as you now watch the snowy and heavily glaciated north faces of the White Pass mountains

1:00 PM: Morning train riders head south

3:30 PM: Morning train riders arrive back in Skagway via van

Sample Afternoon Train Itinerary

10:30 AM: Canadian Customs; be prepared with your PASSPORTS handy!

12:00 PM: Carcross for lunch (not included in price) Enjoy lunch at one of two vendors in town or ask us about a picnic lunch!

1:00 PM: Head south on the same highway, enjoying a completely different view as you now watch the snowy and heavily glaciated north faces of the White Pass mountains slowly unfold before you.

3:00 PM: Arrive in Fraser and board the southbound White Pass & Yukon Rail train

3:30 PM: Group departs Fraser

5:15 PM: Arrive back in Skagway via White Pass rail. We will always be available for rides back to your ship! A walk back through downtown Skagway is optional.
