Ride the Rail Tour

Overview

All Aboard! Ride the rail of the White Pass & Yukon Route train in this fun addition to any of our tours. Expand upon your Klondike Gold Rush History as you follow the path of the stampeders over White Pass. The train ride is 1.75 hours long, and fun for all ages!

We have a few options for you when it comes to adding a ride on the historic WP&YR train to your day. The option that is right for your group depends on the amount of additional activities you are interested in.

Train tickets are based on availability and the price of tickets are not included at the time of booking. Let us know at the time of booking if you have a preference for the morning or afternoon train. Either way, your guide will take you on a full Emerald Lake tour, either before or after you ride the White Pass Rail!

Price: All of our tours are private, meaning tour prices are based on the group size. Railway tickets are based upon the specific number of people in your party. Ticket prices are added to your reservation when ticket availability is confirmed through White Pass and Yukon Route Railway.  Below are our private van tour prices based on your group size.

Sample Morning Train Itinerary

7:20 AM: Meet your guide, who will be wearing a blue coat and holding a “Beyond Skagway” sign, at the end of your ship’s pier, just past port security.

Head North, through historic downtown Skagway. Listen, while your guide weaves the story of the Klondike Gold Rush of ’98. View notable historical buildings and hot spots to visit after your tour. Cruise over White Pass, passing and/or stopping at these various viewpoints.

9:45 AM: Morning train arrives in Fraser to begin Emerald Lake Tour Continuing north, scan for wildlife and pass by or stop at these scenic points for photos! Tutshi Lake (look out for mountain goats!) Tagish Lake Yukon Sign Bove Island Carcross Desert Emerald Lake – Our Turnaround

12:00 PM: Approximate timing for lunch in Carcross for morning train riders 12:30 PM: Head south on the same highway, enjoying a completely different view as you now watch the snowy and heavily glaciated north faces of the White Pass mountains

1:00 PM: Morning train riders head south

4:30 PM: Morning train riders arrive back in Skagway via van

 

Sample Afternoon Train Itinerary

9:30 AM: Canadian Customs; be prepared with your PASSPORTS handy!

11:30 AM: Carcross for lunch (not included in price) Enjoy lunch at one of two vendors in town or ask us about a picnic lunch!

12:30 PM: Head south on the same highway, enjoying a completely different view as you now watch the snowy and heavily glaciated north faces of the White Pass mountains slowly unfold before you.

3:00 PM: Arrive in Fraser and board the southbound White Pass & Yukon Rail train

3:30 PM: Group departs Fraser

5:10 PM: Arrive back in Skagway via White Pass rail. We will always be available for rides back to your ship
